The hydraulic cylinder piston is the primary load-bearing, force-transmitting component inside a hydraulic
cylinder. It divides the cylinder barrel into two chambers — the pressure side and the return side — and
converts the hydraulic fluid pressure into linear mechanical force. The piston must maintain an accurate
OD-to-bore clearance to ensure correct sealing performance, prevent internal leakage, and deliver the rated
cylinder force output throughout the component's service life.
ABC manufactures hydraulic cylinder pistons from medium carbon steel, which provides the optimal
combination of machinability (for tight dimensional tolerances), compressive strength (to withstand hydraulic
pressure loads), and surface hardness (to resist seal groove wear). Medium carbon steel is the
industry-standard material for precision hydraulic cylinder pistons in industrial applications.
The hydraulic piston OD must be machined to a very tight tolerance relative to the cylinder bore to ensure
correct seal groove depth, seal compression, and piston-to-bore clearance. Too loose — and internal leakage
reduces cylinder efficiency and force output. Too tight — and the piston may seize. ABC's CNC turning
process achieves sub-millimetre tolerance control on all critical piston dimensions, verified by in-house
inspection before dispatch.
